Stuck in a Rut

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present you requests to God.

Philippians 4:6

What do we do when we are feeling discouraged? What should we do?

We all go through times of discouragement and feeling hopeless. And the truth is, it is not a fun feeling. It's hard. It's tiring. We can know the TRUTH of God's Word in our head and believe it but still experience the heavy weight of discouragement. It is confusing to know what is right and true yet not FEEL the hope and encouragement that God's truth proclaims.

We all get stuck in the rut of discouragement sometimes. Know you are not alone in this.

If you find yourself in the rut of discouragement, even while believing what is true, I want to encourage you to CONTINUE TO BELIEVE.

Psalm 62:8 says, "Trust in Him at all times, O people, pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge."

In the midst of feeling hopeless, go to God. Tell Him your struggle. Pour out your heart to Him. Ask Him for the strength to stand firm on His truth even when feelings don't match up. He is trustworthy and His truth never fails. Our feelings WILL change. His truth and hope never will.

Join me in leaning on God and His truth when the heaviness of discouragement is present and persistent. Persevere in believing in the One who is our Hope and Refuge.
