Simple Trust, Simple Prayers

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Hebrews 4:14-16

George Mueller's journal "Simple Trust, Simple Prayers" is an incredible testimony of unwavering trust. It contains many stories of the faith of Mueller through his prayers for God's provision. Mueller is an encouraging example to us to live the life of simple trust that God has called us to.

Hebrews 4 offers us encouragement and direction in this area as well. We have a high priest who not only can sympathize with every weakness of ours, but has risen himself to heaven at the right hand of God. We are to hold firmly to this faith that we have and profess to others. Because of these two things, we can have confidence to approach God's throne of grace, that he may help us in our time of need.

Praying confidently like George Mueller cannot be forced or come from a selfish heart. Instead, our prayers must come from a lifestyle of simple trust that we have for every area of our lives. Practice with me today living a life of simple trust and obedience, remembering that God is both faithful and good in His answers to our prayers.
