As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God, My soul thirsts for God, the the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
Psalm 42:1-2
We all know what happens when we go a long time without drinking water. We get thirsty and dehydrated. We begin longing for a drink of water to rehydrate and replenish us. It can happen all too quickly when we go about our days, especially hot days, forgetting to hydrate ourselves. But once the feeling of thirst comes on, the longing for water hits hard. We NEED it.
Do we long for God like we long for water when we are desperately thirsty?
Are we intentional about staying spiritually hydrated?
I pray that we would long for and pursue our Heavenly Father as if panting for a flowing stream of water. May we stay spiritually hydrated by daily filling up with God's Word and allowing ourselves to be encouraged by the Holy Spirit within us. Let's seek to stay hydrated and help hydrate others with the love of Christ!
