I'm Too Vulnerable to be Encouraged

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Have you ever felt too weak or vulnerable to even except encouragement or help?

Vulnerability is not easy. It makes us feel exposed. It puts us in a place of helplessness. When that is the case, our defenses kick in. We don't allow anyone to approach, even a friend who just wants to love and encourage us.

No one likes to feel vulnerable. It is not an easy place to be. But as the verse above tells us, God's grace is sufficient for us. It is in our weakness that his power can be seen in our lives more fully. It is challenging and humbling, but the Bible tells us that when we submit to Christ, we are going to experience weakness and hardships. But when we're in Christ, we can rejoice in these things because his strength and his grace are greater than anything!

We can relax in the arms of Jesus when we realize that he will carry us and strengthen us when we are vulnerable and weak. We can rest in his promise that his grace is sufficient for us, no matter how insufficient we are.

I pray that we can submit our weakness and vulnerability to God together today. I pray that we also would allow God to encourage us through his Word, through friends, and through the Holy Spirit. Remember, when we are weak God likes to shine through with his strength.
