In the picture above is a long time disciple making friend, Joel. We are at the headwaters of the Jordan River in Israel under Mount Hermon. Joel and I have been on a disciple making journey together for over twenty years now. Once our financial support is raised I will join Joel to run the Leadership Development part of Sonlife. It was an honor to serve with Joel and the other Sonlife Staff in Israel a few weeks ago. That Study Tour was Sonlife’s first and we plan to offer another one in eighteen months.
One of the names of God is Jehovah Jireh which means the Lord will provide. In Israel I saw the Jehovah Jireh theme throughout the land. God’s provision story was seen and heard over and over again. God provided a ram in the thickets for Abraham to sacrifice. On that same mountain God provided his one and only son as a sacrifice for our sins. Wow! In the old city of Jerusalem you find pools of water. On the Eastside the Pool of Bethesda and on the Southern slope the natural Gihon Spring fills the Pool of Shalom. Provision from God was and is a common theme ever since creation. When God gives a vision, he gives provision. Our family has experienced this same theme of God as Jehovah Jireh.
