Be Transformed

Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

- Romans 12:2

Transitioning from the peace and soul rest that came from being in the mountains for few weeks to the hustle and bustle of civilization can be a challenge. There is a temptation to loose the peace I felt in the mountains as I get reoriented and adjust to normal, daily life, particularly with everything that is currently going on in the world.

As I struggle with this temptation, I am reminded to be still before God and allow Him to calm my mind and my heart in the midst of it all. Romans 12 tells us not to conform to the pattern of this world. We are not to conform to a hurried, anxious filled life, forgetting to practice the presence of God.  Instead, we must be still and allow God to transform us by the renewing of our mind and heart, seeking Him first in every place and every situation.

God desires for us to be at peace and to rest in Him whether in the the beautiful mountains of Colorado or in the middle of the noise and often the unrest of the world.

I pray for us all that God would help us to focus on Him in the middle of the noise around us, that He would grant us minds and hearts that are at peace because of who He is, not based on any circumstance. I pray for His spirit of discipline, love, and power, not trying to operate on our own but by God who is sovereign over it all.

Let us trust in God and daily ask Him to grant us peace that surpasses all understanding.
